- Membership includes several highly active Work Groups
- DESD has an abundance content and domain expertise
Weaknesses
- Limited time available from many members outside the WGM
- Size of the steering division makes current decision making practices impractical
- Poor project coordination across steering divisions
- Lack of Mission and Charter
Opportunities
- SAEAF
- DESD Reorganization
- Modification of voting practices
- Development of DESD Mission and Charter
- Find new ways to market the activity in DESD to recruit new members and new content
Threats
- SAEAF
- Failure to approve projects in a timely fashion
- Trying to maintain current standards along with trying to develop new standards
